A low dwarf form of Hoya that trails vigorously, and whose clusters of cream-colored to pure white flowers fill the air with a very lovely perfume for most of the year on established plants grown under good conditions. The Fragrant Hoya, Hoya lacunosa, is wonderful for a small hanging basket, as a groundcover beneath larger plants, and spilling from mixed container gardens in warm shaded sites. Its turn-your-head, intense Jasmine-like fragrance is strongest, even rivalling and exceeding some of the true Jasmines (Jasminum spp.), Gardenias, Night Blooming Jasmine, Night Blooming Cereus, Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia spp. and hybrids) and Sweet Olives, after sunset when the dainty clusters of white nectar rich flowers may turn amber colored due to the dripping golden nectar. The Fragrant White Mistflower produces clusters of fragrant, white, nectar-rich flowers in fall just as the Monarch butterflies are migrating southward. The flowers attract a large variety of pollinators including bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, and other garden beneficials. The sweetly fragrant clusters of flowers open purple (yesterday), fade through lavender (today), and finally to pure white (tomorrow) creating a beautiful multi-colored effect on this popular tropical to subtropical naturally evergreen shrub. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner! Neatly formed, small to medium-sized, bell-shaped, red to coral-red flowers centered by a boss of contrasting gold tipped stamens on white filaments are produced over an extended period from early to midseason and are held against a foil of deep green, glossy, medium-textured foliage. Freedom Bell Camellia is classified as a non-Reticulata hybrid with Sasanqua-like foliage and is a vigorous growing, large evergreen shrub with a naturally upright, densely branching habit that rounds out with maturity. The showy and long-lasting deep red pine-cone like flower heads are produced throughout the growing season and may be produced throughout the year under warm tropical conditions. French Kiss is a selection of the Red Buttons Ginger with a free flowering habit that lends it to use en mass in a partly shaded garden or landscape or as a low maintenance specimen plant for containers. Orange and yellow individual flowers emerge singly or a few at the time from between the showy red bracts that make up the flower heads. Medium green rounded foliage. The flowers of this compact ginger attract hummingbirds and make an easy long-lasting cut flower. 1" wide dark maroon pipe-like flowers are edged and veined in soft yellow and are bordered in a loose yellow fringe produced from spring to fall. The 2-3" wide rounded to heart shaped foliage is accented by white veins and is used by the Pipevine Swallowtail as a host plant. Use Fringed Dutchman's Pipevine, Aristolochia fimbriata, as a hardy deciduous groundcover, allow it to spill from containers, or in hanging baskets to better display the unusual flowers. Item# 9681.

A low growing member of the Verbena family, Frogfruit makes a beautiful, easy groundcover that is covered by tiny heads of dainty, nectar filled white flowers from late spring to fall. They enjoy moist soils but are moderately drought resistant once well established. A food source for the Common Buckeye, Phaon Crescent, and White Peacock butterfly caterpillars as well as a nectar source for a host of pollinators. This species, Phyla nodiflora var. nodiflora, is native to every continent except Antarctica. It is important not to mow/prune until flowering is complete. Large white trumpets heavily edged in a deep rich pink skirt, hang in loose clusters from this large tropical shrub. Angel's Trumpets are fast growing tropical shrubs that act-like die-back perennials in the northern parts of their range but readily return from the roots in spring. They also make easy to enjoy container plants that can be overwintered indoors. Item# 424.

The red to pinkish-red and white tubular flowers emerge from between the spikes of chartreuse bracts from spring to fall to year-round under warm tropical conditiosn. The Fruit Cocktail Shrimp Plant, one the newest selections of Justicia brandegeeana, has a naturally more compact, better branching habit than the typical Red Shrimp Plant but in all other regards it is nearly identical. It is quite tolerant of light conditions ranging from full sun to light shade but may have the densest habit in sunnier conditions. The flowers attract hummingbirds, larger butterflies, and other pollinators. Glowing intense red, 1" long two-lipped tubular flowers are borne along short spikes from summer to frost on this vigorous selection of the drought tolerant Autumn Sage. A 'must have' for the Hummingbird lover! A wonderfully free-flowering Gardenia that was selected by Greg Grant from seed collected from Rosedown Plantation and named in honor of the garden's owner and horticulturist Martha Turnbull. 2-3" sweetly fragrant, white star-like single flowers are born over a long period beginning in spring and lasting through summer. Cross-pollinated flowers will produce bright orange hips to provide winter interest. Item# 9867.

1 of only 5 Monardas to be selected as an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, 1 of the top 10 in Mt. Cuba Center's 2014-2016 Monarda trials, and in the top 10 in trials at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in 1998! The extra large, 3-4" wide, clusters of 2" long, deep red tubular flowers are produced over an extended period beginning in late spring to midsummer, depending on your zone. Earlier in warmer climates and later in colder climates. Garlic Chives or Chinese Chives are similar to Society Garlic in foliage and durability but with a slightly lower growth habit and producing flat-topped clusters of white blooms from summer to fall.
