Indigofera, Chinese Indigo, Dwarf Indigo
Indigofera decora
A nearly non-stop display of 4-8" long, pendant spikes of light and dark pink, pea-like flowers are produced from early to midspring to frost attracting mainly larger bees as pollinators. Dwarf Indigofera or Chinese Indigo, Indigofera kirilowii, is an easy and adaptable, deciduous, rhizomatous, shrub-like groundcover growing to about 18-24" high. It is adorned in deep green, softly textured foliage that makes a nice foil for the near constant display of warm season flowers. This is one of the first groundcovers we recommend for average moist to dry-ish shaded sites. Use Indigofera as an informal groundcover in sunny or shaded sites as well as adaptable container specimens. Caterpillar host: Funereal Duskywing. Item# 468
