Betty Ho Ginger
Hedychium species 'Betty Ho'

Large spikes of intensely gardenia scented, large, orange-yellow flowers with nicely contrasting red-orange stamens and centers are produced in late summer and are sure to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Betty Ho Ginger, a Hedychium hybrid developed and introduced by the Lyon Arboretum of Honolulu, Hawaii, is a medium to large growing 6-7' high, slowly spreading rhizomatous, naturally evergreen tropical that acts like a root hardy perennial in areas where freezes occur. The Hedychium Gingers typically need the equivalent of about 4-6 hours of cool sunlight in a moist to average moist, rich fertile soil with average or better drainage for optimum vigor and flowering. An organic mulch with all of its many benefits is highly recommended especially for new plantings and in zones 7-8. Item# 11532
