Passion Fruit Lantana, Lantana ‘Ballanpaf’ PPAF: Possibly the brightest colored trailing Lantana on the market and both our staff and our pollinators have totally fallen in love with it! The rounded flower clusters open a deep orange-yellow, deepen through orange tones, and mature to deep fuchsia attracting a variety of bees, butterflies, and other garden beneficials throughout the growing season. Passion Fruit Lantana is a trailing selection perfectly suited to hanging basket and container culture whether as specimens or in mixed company and will also make a statement in the garden and landscape as a groundcover or enmasse.

Lemon POPSICLE™ Dwarf Kniphofia or Torch Lily, Kniphofia ‘Lemon Popsicle’ USPP24011; EU38300: Large dense spikes of bright sunny yellow tubular flowers are held above the deep green foliage beginning in late spring and continuing into fall attracting a variety of pollinators. Watermelon Ruffles Perennial Hibiscus, Hardy Hibiscus, Hibiscus x ‘Watermelon Ruffles’ PPAF: One of the most exciting new Hardy Hibiscus introductions for 2024! The medium to large, 7” wide, heavily ruffled, bright magenta flowers with a slightly darker eye are set against a foil of deep green, bronze tinged foliage. Watermelon Ruffles Hardy or Perennial Hibiscus is an indeterminate type meaning that they both begin flowering earlier and flower all up and down the stems instead of just on the upper half of the plant creating a knockout display in the garden and landscape. Plum Crazy Salvia or Anise Sage, Salvia ‘Balsalpazy’ PP35288: A star in 2023 trials and was reported especially popular with polllinators! The large, 2” long, tubular, deep red-purple flowers emerge from even darker burgundy spikes and calyxes from spring to fall attracting a host of pollinators including hummingbirds, larger butterflies, and larger bees. Plum Crazy Salvia, a hybrid with Salvia guaranitica and S. splendens in its parentage, is a clump forming, herbaceous perennial growing to about 3-4’ high and wide and is adorned with deep green foliage. Use these types of Salvias in the garden and landscape for dazzling summer color or in medium to large mixed or specimen containers to draw the pollinators in close. HEARTLAND™ Sunset 2024 Lantana: The rounded clusters of flowers open a deep yellow and quickly deepen through shades of orange and finally maturing into pink tones. HEARTLAND™ Sunset 2024 Lantana is a new more vigorous cousin to the HAVANA™ series growing to about 18-24” high and wide making these great choices for colorful containers as well as in the garden and landscape. This series is a better choice for a smaller growing Lantana where growing seasons tend to be cooler and shorter. The HEARTLAND™ Lantana series are nearly sterile producing almost no fruit or viable seed thus these plants can spend their energy on flower and nectar production. They start flowering earlier giving you a longer season of color from spring into fall attracting a myriad of pollinators throughout the growing season.

Mocha Moon Perennial or Hardy Hibiscus, Hibiscus x ‘Mocha Moon’ PP27837: A knockout combination! The large, 7-8” wide, white to very pale pink flowers with large starkly contrasting scarlet eye that is surrounded by a narrow fuchsia halo that bleeds out into overlapping petals and are set against a dark backdrop of deep burgundy to deep green maple-like foliage. Mocha Moon Perennial or Hardy Hibiscus is a moderately vigorous growing, clump forming, herbaceous perennial building to about 4’ high and 5-6’ wide at maturity. Like most of the newer Hibiscus developed by Walter’s Gardens, Mocha Moon is an indeterminate type meaning that the plants both begin flowering earlier and flower all up and down the stems instead of just on the upper half of the plant creating a knockout display in the garden and landscape. COLORBURST™ Deep Red Cape Fuchsia, Cape Figwort, Phygelius, Phygelius x rectus ‘TNPHYCDR’ PP31397: The dark maroon spikes to 30” high are adorned with clusters of dangling 2” long tubular bright red flowers that flare at their ends and are produced in cycles throughout the growing season attracting a variety of pollinators but especially hummingbirds. COLORBURST™ Deep Red Cape Fuchsia, a hybrid Phygelius, is a clump forming, heat and humidity tolerant perennial that is normally relegated to the West Coast but newer cultivars and hybrids like this one are showing that these plants can be enjoyed in the Southeast as well. They will do best in an acidic, well-draining, fertile, moist to average moist soil and can be enjoyed as both container specimens as well as in the garden and landscape.
