Spikes of soft orangey yellow flowers are produced from spring to frost, or year round under tropical conditions, on this upright to spreading naturally evergreen tropical plant. Florida Summer Firecracker Flower or Crossandra has a moderately compact habit with rich green foliage whose endless procession of flowers are sure to brighten any tropical scene. In areas with hot summer climates Crossandras tend to prefer cool filtered sunlight, early morning sun, or very late afternoon sunlight. In cooler climates they can tolerate full sun. Use Crossandras as container plants as specimens or as companion plants. In zone 10 they may be used as perennials.
