Flattened clusters of dainty white flowers sit atop a backdrop of deep blue-green leather foliage on this compact rounded evergreen shrub in mid to late spring. Moonlit® Lace Viburnum is considered to be a hybrid of V. davidii x V. tinus and offers excellent heat tolerance unlike Viburnum davidii which seems to melt in the heat and humidity of the southeastern US. The large bright pinkish-red double flowers, somewhat reminiscent of Christmas Beauty, with wonderfully contrasting golden stamens and deeply serrated holly-like dark green foliage. Tall dense spikes of golden-orange nectar rich flowers are produced throughout the year in mild winter climates atop an upright growing shrub with dense velvety gray foliage. Orange Sceptre Butterfly Bush is a hybrid Buddleja that remains evergreen in mild winter climates like zone 9 and warmer. The flowers attract larger bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Provide a full to mostly sunny location in an average moist well-drained soil for optimum health and flowering. Large clusters of deep purplish red tubular fragrant flowers open to display white and creamy yellow throats. Peaches and Cream Honeysuckle begins flowering in late spring and will continue into fall. It was selected not only for its ability to flower continuously throughout the growing season, exceptionally large flowers and flower clusters but also for its pest and disease resistance. Like most Honeysuckles, Peaches and Cream flowers on new growth so provide it with a full to mostly sunny position in a well-drained fertile soil. Clusters of 2" wide primrose yellow fragrant 4-petalled flowers are produced in mid to late spring into early summer atop the low growing spreading stems adorned with deep green fuzzy foliage of this native perennial wildflower. Prairie Sundrops, a.k.a. Meadow Evening Primrose, is a dayflowering species of Evening Primrose with a low somewhat bushy habit and it does spread somewhat by rhizomes which is great for naturalistic settings like meadows, prairies and roadside plantings and it is reportedly relatively easy to control in garden settings as well. An adaptable native perennial that is tolerant of wet to dry soils including clay but it seems to prefer an acidic pH. The flowers attract butterflies and larger native bees. Item# 11662

Widely flaring 2" long light plum colored nectar rich tubular flowers that darken as they age are produced in large clusters from spring to frost or year-round under warm tropical conditions. The Princess Iochroma develops into an upright to spreading exceptionally free-flowering naturally multi-stemmed tropical shrub that is easy to maintain in medium-sized containers or in the garden and landscape where winters are mild. Iochromas are close cousins of the Angel's Trumpets or Brugmansias and the flowers of this hybrid very much resemble their shape only on a much smaller scale. A purple form of the Blue Butterfly Bush, producing large clusters of violet and purple butterfly-shaped flowers beginning in spring and early summer and continuing into fall under good conditions. For years the only cultivar of Blue Butterfly Bush available was 'Ugandense' the common Blue Butterfly Bush, Rotheca myricoides (syn. Clerodendrum myricoides 'Ugandense'), a.k.a. Oxford Blue and Cambridge Blue, this darker purple to violet flowered cultivar was shared with us by plantsman Heidi Sheesley of Treesearch Farms, Inc., Houston, Texas. The specialized butterfly-shaped flowers are pollinated by Bumblebees and Carpenter Bees. This very rare red flowered form of Chinese Hat produces red tubular blooms that emerge from the Chinese hat-like red calyxes are produced from late summer to autumn along the arching stems of this unusual shrub. A K. Sawada 1939 introduction, Sarasa Camellia produces medium-sized semi-double pale flesh-pink flowers with contrasting dark purplish-pink flecks and stripes with a boss of gold tipped stamens against a backdrop of deep green glossy foliage. As per his 1934 watercolor record, Mr. Sawada says that this is a "very free bloomer" flowering in early to midseason (Dec-Feb). Sarasa originated from seed initially planted in 1925 that his brother had gathered and sent him from Japanese gardens. Item# 11834

Dense spikes of golden yellow flowers cover the upper 2/3's of this plant for an extended period beginning in mid to late summer and continuing into fall. Seaside Goldenrod is a clump forming native perennial common in coastal areas whose nectar rich flowers provide a much needed food source to fall migrating Monarch butterflies along with other butterflies, bees, and many garden beneficials. Deep green smooth foliage adorns the stems. This is a salt tolerant species that is more compact in poor and salt laden soils but in rich garden soil it is known to reach 6-8' high. Pinching out the growing tips in late spring will help to create a fuller more compact plant. Provide a full to mostly sunny location but it is otherwise adaptable to a wide variety of soil types from wet clay to sand. Item# 11627

A freely flowering summer blooming Snapdragon, this easy to grow perennial produces dense spikes of soft rosy pink flowers with primrose yellow and peachy orange nectar guides that sit atop a compact mound of handsome fuzzy gray-green foliage. The Spanish Snapdragon, a native of the drier Meditteranean region of Europe, is a suprisingly winter hardy species growing about twice as wide as it is high and may trail somewhat when grown as a container plant. It is best suited to soils with excellent drainage in a full to mostly sunny location and makes a forgiving container specimen that will dazzle for weeks. Even with its preferences for drier conditions it has been quite tolerant of growing in average moist well-drainedsoils in our hot and humid southern zone 8B climate. Large clusters of pure white lightly fragrant flowers shine brightly against a mound of deep green glossy foliage throughout the year under warm tropical conditions. Even if it wasn't fragrant it would easily be worthy of growing for its beautiful form, foliage, and exceptional flower power. This makes a wonderful hanging basket or container specimen for a covered patio or porch and is considered to be root hardy in zone 9 at least. Provide light shade or cool filtered sunlight (although it is reported to somewhat sun tolerant) in well-drained average moist, mildly acidic soils for optimum performance. Item# 11666
