Flame Camellia
Camellia 'Flame'
The medium to large, semi-double, fiery flame red flowers centered by a contrasting boss of gold stamens atop white filaments and are produced in midseason, January to February. The pollen laden flowers attract bees and other pollinators on warmer winter days. Flame Camellia is a large flowered Japonica type with a vigorous upright and densely branching habit becoming rounded in form with maturity. In Stirling Macoboy's 1987 Illustrated Encyclopedia of Camellias he describes the flowers as "One of the most vividly colored of all camellias". Provide Camellias with a fertile soil rich in organic matter, with average moisture, and an organic mulch. Item# 13223
