Great for partial sun/shade in FL (5/30/2018)
Plant received was of a good size and had flowerbuds. It quickly established itself with minimal watering in its permanent spot and of course my hummingbirds have visited its richly pigmented true red flowers.Plant has an upright growth which might make it easier to squeeze into certain situations. Some of my other hardy South America sages have already showed signs of heat stress (probably because they are cloud forest ones) but not his species.Specific growing site: Northeastern corner shaded by several trees nearby. Gets hot direct sun from ~11:30 to 2:30, filtered light/shade rest of the day. Shares spot with Spigelia marilandica and Yellow Anise 'Florida Sunshine' (behind).Something I noticed is that the flowers take longest to develop out of all my salvias, even when I take lighting into account.
