The 2-3" wide cupped fragrant roses have red outer petals with deep rose inner petals and are produced throughout the growing season on this disease resistant small shrub. This long-loved rose from 1834 bears many names attesting to its prowess as a garden and landscape rose and it is one of the few roses that has proven resistant to chili thrips in Florida. It is very similar to the ever popular Craimoisi Superieur with which it is often confused but Louis Philippe generally has a more compact habit growing to 3-4' high and wide on average and the flowers seem to be more pink in the inner petals. Like all China Roses provide this easy to grow plant with a full to mostly sunny site in an average moist, fertile soil for optimum vigor and flowering though it is fairly adaptable. A excellent rose for hedging, landscapes, and as part of a mixed perennial border. Item# 12300

The large lemony yellow, lightly fragrant, cupped flowers can reach up to 5" across and open from long showy pointed buds that are often tinged red with flowers opening in the evening and closing up the following morning. The flowers are held against a contrasting foil of dark green to gray green, narrow, glossy foliage and the plants are pollinated by Sphinx moths that are sometimes confused with hummingbirds. The Missouri Evening Primrose, Oenothera macrocarpa or O. missouriensis, is one of the most recognizable US native perennial wildflowers and has long been a desirable garden perennial for its showy flowers, toughness, and long season of flowering that can begin as early as midspring and may continue into mid and late summer. It is a clump-forming, taprooted perennial native to the west central US in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, southern Arkansas, and of course Missouri that is typically found in very well-drained, gravelly to sandy to loamy, typically alkaline, often dry soils. For the gardener in other parts of the country it will need excellent drainage in a relatively dry soil in a full to mostly sunny site to do well and it does not like to be crowded. The flowers are followed by large winged seedpods that are sometimes dried and used in cut flower arrangements and the plants may reseed on exposed soils. Item# 12803

The white, 4-petaled, dogwood-like flowers are produced in midspring on the arching branches and are centered by a boss of contrasting yellow stamens. The Mock Orange, a species of Philadelphus, is an heirloom, deciduous, multi-stemmed arching to rounded, suckering but non-aggressive, medium-sized shrub. Its bare winter stems provide interesting exfoliating bark in shades of deep brownish red and orange and interestingly the buds are protected and hidden beneath the bark. Unlike some spring flowering shrubs, the Mock Orange does not seem to be affected by winter chill and flowers reliably each spring even in zone 9. The Mock Orange is tolerant of some shade but tends to have the fullest densest habit and optimum flowering where it receives at least a half a day of direct sunlight and full to mostly sunny conditions are optimum. Moderately drought resistant once fully established but will look best where it receives average moisture in an average to well-drained, fertile soil. Item# 13026
