Masses of 1"+ wide light purplish pink fragrant daisies with bright yellow centers are produced over several weeks beginning in late summer and fall adorn the climbing and arching stems of this unusual native perennial. The dense flat-topped flower clusters are composed of numerous small, white and creamy white flowers and are produced between late spring and potentially into fall atop 24-36" high stems that attract a wide variety of mainly smaller pollinators. Common Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, is a rhizomatous, evergreen, heirloom perennial with fine textured fennel-like, rich medium green, fragrant anise-scented foliage and quickly spreads to create a seemingly weed proof groundcover. It is typically regarded as a poor choice for gardens due to its rambunctious nature but makes an easy addition to naturalistic plantings like meadows, prairies, and roadsides as well as a lawn replacement and a tough and low maintenance groundcover for difficult sites like parking lot islands, provided they have good drainage. It also makes an easy and low maintenance container plant. Provide Common Yarrow with a full to mostly sunny site in lean, mineral soils, like sandy loams, with excellent drainage. Once fully established the plants need little if any maintenance, although, it is said that deadheading the flowers will help to promote repeat flowering from the lower flower stem nodes and to help limit its spread. Item# 13349

Grows To: 24-36"H space as close as 12-8" apart for quick coverage
Outdoor Light: Full sun, Mostly sunny

Loose clusters of sweetly fragrant white, star shaped blooms are born in mass in late spring and early summer on this vigorous and durable evergreen twining climber. The dense whorls of Monarda-like flower clusters are composed of ½" long lavender tubular, nectar-rich flowers with the clusters being subtended by leafy bracts and multiple clusters per stem giving it the name of Downy Pagoda Mint. Flowering occurs between late spring and midsummer on sturdy stems reaching 12-24" high and, like most members of the mint family, the flowers attract short and longue tongued bees, butterflies, Syrphid flies and a variety of other pollinators. Downy Horsemint, Blephilia ciliata, is a clump forming native perennial with lightly fragrant, medium green foliage with basal leaves and shoots typically remaing evergreen. It is considered to be drought resistant once well-established and is typically found in and along dry forests in shaded to partly shaded areas in the middle portion of the central US and through the eastern US.
