Hoya obovata, Porcelain Flower, Wax Flower
The large glossy rounded foliage of Hoya obovata is often flecked with silver and pink, especially on the newer foliage. Rounded hanging clusters of light to pale pink star-shaped flowers are centered with contrasting purplish-red and are considered to be lightly fragrant. Hoya obovata is a vigorous and easy to grow naturally evergreen tropical climber or trailing plant well suited to tropical and indoor settings. Provide a well-drained soil and high indirect light like on a porch or covered patio during the warm season. Looks great in hanging baskets. An excellent choice for beginning Hoya enthusiasts.

Hoya obovata is considered to be one of the easiest and most forgiving species of Hoya that is tolerant of the lower light conditions of more northerly climates. For comparison, the foliage of Hoya obovata is about 2/3's as large as that of the Heartleaf Hoya, Hoya kerrii.

Fragrant Wax Flower, Hoya, Porcelain Flower

A low dwarf form of Hoya that trails vigorously, and whose clusters of cream-colored to pure white flowers fill the air with a very lovely perfume for most of the year on established plants grown under good conditions. The Fragrant Hoya is wonderful for a small hanging basket, as a groundcover beneath larger plants, and spilling from mixed container gardens in warm shaded sites. Its turn-your-head, intense Jasmine-like fragrance is strongest, even rivalling and exceeding some of the true Jasmines (Jasminum spp.), Gardenias, Night Blooming Jasmine, Night Blooming Cereus, Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia spp. and hybrids) and Sweet Olives, after sunset when the dainty clusters of white nectar rich flowers may turn amber colored due to the dripping golden nectar. A perfect plant to add to a Moon Moth garden setting. item# 10050
