Large clusters of white tubular buds open to many petalled fragrant white flowers that change through pink, red, and deep maroon. The Double Rangoon Creeper is a highly sought after vigorous twining climber that flowers profusely throughout the growing summer. Provide this tropical climber with a full to mostly sunny position in a fertile well-drained soil for optimum results. The Rangoon Creepers are considered to be root hardy into zone 8 if given proper winter protection. The flowers attract hummingbird moths early in the day and bees and other pollinators once the flower color deepens.

The Rangoon Creepers are heat and sun loving tropical climbers with medium green foliage often with a bronze cast. Where temperatures fall below freezing use a breathable insulative mulch to help protect the crown and ensure its return in spring once soil temperatures begin to warm. Rangoon Creepers are naturally deciduous in winter, provide them with a well lit, warm growing area during dormancy and do not allow them to remain wet for long periods which could lead to root rot.

Plant in the garden in mid to late spring to early summer and once soil temperatures have begun to warm (late spring for zone 8) to help ensure strong establishment over summer before dormancy sets in to allow for the strongest possible crown for overwinter hardiness. A full to mostly sunny location and a well-drained fertile soil will help to ensure vigorous growth and will help to maximize flowering.

The fragrant, light colored early morning flowers attract hummingbird moths and the flowers face outward. The darker, hanging flowers attract bees and other pollinators.

Rangoon Creeper, onceQuisqualis indica, has recently been reclassified toCombretum indicum. The genus nameQuisqualistranslates to 'Who, What'.
