Light Bulb Clerodendrum, Chains of Glory

Clerodendrum smitinandii, C. smithianum

Lamiaceae (previously Verbenaceae)

Light Bulb Clerodendrum, Chains of Glory
Almost like a more compact form of the Nodding Clerodendrum, the Light Bulb Clerodendrum produces hanging racemes of inflated, light bulb-like buds that emerge from deep burgundy calyces and open to pure white butterfly-shaped blossoms in winter. Its more compact size and shape lends this Clerodendrum to use as a hanging basket or container plant. The glossy green foliage acts a wonderful foil for the brilliant white flowers. Unusual.
