Crimson Beauty Creeping Phlox, Moss Phlox, Thrift

Phlox subulata 'Crimson Beauty'

Polemoniaceae

Crimson Beauty Creeping Phlox, Moss Phlox, Thrift

Deep reddish pink flowers stand well-above the low needle like foliage of this native perennial in early spring. Crimson Beauty Creeping Phlox makes an easy low maintenance groundcover for well-drained sunny locations. The bright flowers attract butterflies. Deer and drought resistant once well-established. Makes a beautiful spiller over rock walls and near water gardens.

Creeping Phlox does well in most average garden soils, but is considered to be fairly drought tolerant once well-established. It will handle full sun in cooler summer climates but will likely need afternoon shade in hot summer climates. Good drainage is key and these are suitable for rock gardens, as a groundcover, or simply as a low perennial for the front of the border. Good disease resistance to Powdery Mildew.
