Lucky Star™ Deep Pink Pentas, Egyptian Star Cluster

Pentas lanceolata 'Lucky Deep Pink'

Rubiaceae

Lucky Star™ Deep Pink Pentas, Egyptian Star Cluster
Large, rounded clusters of bright pink, star-shaped flowers are produced continually from spring to frost atop the deep green foliage. Lucky Star™ Deep Pink Pentas are noted for their dense branching habit, compact size, and continuous flowering instead of the cyclic flowering of many Pentas cultivars. The nectar rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other garden beneficials. The compact habit makes the Lucky Star™Pentas series a perfect container plant whether as specimen plants or in combinations. Provide an average moist, well-drained, moderately fertile, acidic soil for the best results.

The flowers of Pentas will attract butterflies and other nectar loving creatures to your gardens throughout summer. Where not hardy, heat and humidity tolerant Pentas make wonderful annuals for gardens or containers. In the northern portions of their hardiness range provide mulch to help ensure their return for the following season. Pentas are considered to be deer resistant and moderately salt tolerant. Provide periodic supplemental water during dry spells.

Some garden fertilizers contain lime as a filler. We prefer to use slow-release, non-burning fertilizers which do not raise the soil pH for acid loving plants like Pentas.
