Ruby Red Trumpet Creeper

Campsis radicans 'Ruby Red', Bignonia radicans, Tecoma radicans

Bignoniaceae

Ruby Red Trumpet Creeper
Clusters of 4" long deep red trumpets adorn this vigorous native vine throughout summer. Trumpet Creeper is an excellent choice for hummingbirds and we thought it was appropriate to name this naturally occurring Almost Eden selection after the Ruby Throated Hummingbird. Trumpet Creeper's vigor, tolerance of poor soils, and durability lend it to use in difficult sites. Use as an espalier, allow it to climb a sturdy fence, or cover an arbor.

Trumpet Creeper is an aggressive and rampant, deciduous, tap-rooted, native vine that should be planted in area where it can be contained as it may sucker aggressively. Mowing and careful pruning can often help to control suckers. Trumpet Creeper climbs via aerial roots and may damage concrete or wood surfaces. The aerial rootlets are capable of clinging to bark, untreated wood, and even the cracks in mortar and brick but Trumpet Creeper can also twine to wind its way up wire fences and nearby plants.
