The medium to large, semi-double, fiery flame red flowers centered by a contrasting boss of gold stamens atop white filaments and are produced in midseason, January to February. The pollen laden flowers attract bees and other pollinators on warmer winter days. In Stirling Macoboy's 1987 Illustrated Encyclopedia of Camellias he describes the flowers as "One of the most vividly colored of all camellias".
