The Sweetbay develops into a large evergreen shrub or small tree and can easily be trained into topiary forms or shaped into a hedge. The large aromatic dark green foliage is often used in soups to for its flavor. An easy to grow plant that requires little additional care once established in the landscape. Where not hardy the Sweetbay can be overwintered indoors as a container plant.
